So, I'm less than two weeks away and everything is ready to go! New tires, new clutch slave cylinder (the old one was just about to break), a fresh oil change, and a thumbs up from the mechanic. Looks like all my planning has paid off. :-)
There are, of course, a few loose ends that are more a matter of convenience than necessity. I need to update the music play lists, get another set of headphones, and think through what I *really* need and what will just add weight. I couldn't find my winter gloves and based on the weather shenanigans I might want to take this one seriously. I do need to take the fully loaded bike for a spin to get the tire mold off (very slippery) and see if the suspension can really handle the extra 40 pounds of luggage. But both are non-issues and I could leave tomorrow without a worry.
I tried to get some contacts so my current glasses would be a backup but I couldn't seem to figure out how to get the contacts in my eyes - again. About 10 years ago I tried and failed miserably - turns out my eyes close when I try to touch them. Go figure. At the end, my eyes looked like I had just gone on a Hunter S Thompson weekend in Vegas. Time to start saving up for Lasik.
I still have a lot of work related items to take care of (both client and consulting company) before I go but most have been addressed. My short-timer syndrome is worse than I had anticipated...
So, 11 more days to go - but who's counting?
